I am Awareness Behind it All

Behind the rush of thought and name,

There is a quiet, steady flame.

Not caught in fear, nor pulled by praise,

It watches all our passing days.

The mind may storm, the heart may sway,

Yet awareness does not drift away.

Like open sky behind the weather,

It holds each changing cloud together.

When strengthened through attentive seeing,

We rest more deeply in our being.

Reactions loosen, clarity grows,

A deeper current gently flows.

From this still ground, compassion blooms,

And peace can enter crowded rooms.

For when we know the watcher within,

We are less ruled by loss or win.

Awareness—silent, vast, and bright—

Turns struggle into guiding light.

Not something gained, but recognized:

The boundless presence behind our eyes.
